The Rio Olympics might as well be named the most controversial that have ever happened in all of history, for various reasons including the social media craze.

Yes, technology has always existed even with the previous Olympics where events have always been broadcast live by the world media to their various audiences.

However this time the many social media platforms have almost ruined the good old Olympcis as individuals and professional personnel disseminate information and footages with personal views every other second.

Dress code and Culture

There was controversy when footage and images of a volley ball match were show t the public. This is no usual match as the two sides did not just represent and come from different countries, their widely differing sportswear caused an international stir all over the world.

One media outlet referred to it as an oppressing female attire while referring to what the Egyptian volley ball team members where putting on as compared to their counterparts. The Egyptian women were clad in black knee length leggings, long armed T-Shirts with some women dorning a head wrap as per the female dress code in Egypt. The German side however were clad in bikini looking two piece sportswear.

Beliefs and Religion

There is also the example of a Saudi national who allegedly refused to compete with an Israeli counterpart

Amusing but weird example was when a Saudi Arabia Judo contestant Joud Fahmy did not appear for her match with Mauritius counterpart so as not to meet Israeli Gili Cohen. The excuse given was that the former had sustained injuries during training. It should be noted however, that Saudi Arabia and Israel are sworn known enemies!

Languages

The fact that there are more than 200 nations in the Rio De Janeiro Olympics, it is obvious that there are a number of languages, one can say it is one big pot of language diversity with languages like Spanish, Arabic, Polish, German, Portuguese to mention a few.

It is however impossible for an individual to understand or be able to speak all languages spoken by the Olympic competitors and the officials. This therefore means that services of highly experienced and professional translation services are employed for purposes of effective communication.
